Who we are and why we’re here…

root & branch learning studio was created for students who need more than traditional tutoring—students who are capable, but who have struggled to find the support they need to be successful.

I’m Jenny Little, an educator with over 20 years of experience in special education, literacy instruction, and student support. Much of my work has focused on students with significant executive functioning challenges—students who struggle with organization, task initiation, time management, and follow-through, often despite strong ability.

Over the years, I have seen too many students fall victim to some pretty significant gaps in both public and private school settings—not because educators don’t care, but because systems are often not designed to provide the level of individualized, sustained support these students need. This reality became deeply personal as well. I’ve experienced the heartbreak of watching students I’ve worked closely with—and my own child—struggle in environments that simply weren’t equipped to support them in the ways they needed.

root & branch exists because of those students.

It exists to provide the kind of support that is often missing: clear, structured, and consistent guidance in both academic skills and executive functioning. Many students don’t struggle because they lack ability—they struggle because they lack clarity in how to approach their work and manage the demands placed on them.

At its core, this work blends academic support with executive functioning strategies, social-emotional awareness, and a strong sense of connection. Students need skills, but even before that - they need to feel understood, supported, and capable of growth.

The name root & branch reflects this approach. The “roots” represent clarity, foundational skills, and the underlying strategies that support learning. The “branches” represent growth—confidence, independence, and the ability to extend those skills into new challenges.

root & branch learning studio provides thoughtful, structured support through small-group sessions that integrate academic instruction with executive function coaching—helping students not only improve their work, but build confidence in their abilities. As students gain practical strategies and tools they can rely on, they begin to feel more capable, more in control, and more willing to engage with learning. Over time, this growth extends beyond academics, strengthening self-esteem and helping students see themselves as learners who can navigate challenges and succeed.

This is me, Jenny, with one of the reasons why I do what I do…
